Before we started production fishermen were often waiting weeks for sufficient ice to go to sea.
With a reliable ice source the local fishing community are now able to fish more frequently and productively, creating a positive impact for the community at large.
Even though the fishing industry represents a small percentage of the national GDP,it is a fundamental tool for development. With current fishing methods set at an artisanal level, the Cape Verdean local fishing industry has a truly sustainable approach that ensures continuing fish stock levels for future generations.
